However, here are a few of issues that we're often asked about - these should be considered as mandatory:
Smoking Policy - Whilst we do not ban smokers, you should understand that there is NO SMOKING allowed in any of the accommodation areas on board at any time. Smoking is only allowed on the foredeck (the pointy bit at the front) and otherwise away from other non-smokers. There is no smoking allowed at all on board Highland Tiger. We have been criticised in the past for enforcing this policy but it is in place to ensure the comfort of our guests and the safety of the ship. You should be aware that it is non-negotiable.
Alcohol Policy - while we're happy to provide certain alcoholic drinks (excluding spirits) as part of the service that you're offered on longer cruises, we don't expect guests to abuse this courtesy to the extent that, if in the opinion of the Skipper, their consumption is such that they are likely to compromise their personal safety or the safety of others. If such a situation arises then we reserve the right to refuse further alcoholic beverages.
Mobile Phones Policy - Mobile phone reception is surprisingly good around most of the Hebrides, depending upon your service provider. Vodaphone tends to provide the best signal. Whereas we realise that some guests may need to maintian contact with the outside world while we are at sea, you are asked to switch your phone off when you come on board, so as not to disturb fellow passengers. The ship is equipped with a Vodaphone cellular telephone which is 'always on' and whereas this is not available for general use by guests it means that in an emergency, friends or family can still contact you.
Travellers Checklist - If you've read this far then you're probably going to be sailing with us so have a look at our checklist to make sure that you've got everything that you need.
